ADA Compliance

To remain competitive, medical facilities must exceed ADA compliance standards. While widened entrances, ramped stairways, and improved exterior navigation are essential, a holistic approach is necessary to create a truly inclusive environment. Often overlooked, carpeting can significantly impact accessibility. Certain textures and grooves can hinder the mobility of individuals using walkers or wheelchairs. Additionally, doors should be designed for easy, one-handed operation, avoiding the need for tight grasping or twisting motions. Cabinet sinks can be adapted to accommodate wheelchairs, and adequate clear floor space near exam tables is crucial for safe transfers. By addressing these often-overlooked details, medical facilities can enhance accessibility, improve patient experience, and establish a reputation for inclusivity.

What are your unique challenges when designing & building a Medical Facility?

Remodel work / Shutdowns

To minimize disruption to patient care and staff, our construction company will carefully schedule work around the facility's operational hours. Effective communication between us and hospital staff, particularly charge nurses, is paramount during the pre-construction phase. Infection control will be our top priority, with strict adherence to protocols to prevent the spread of pathogens and harmful substances. Negative pressure will be established in the work area to contain contaminants, by ensuring airflow into the room rather than out. Sealed HVAC systems and maintaining the proper pressure levels in the workspace is very important. Walk-off mats and airtight barriers will further prevent the spread of dust and fumes. Additionally, to avoid interference with sensitive equipment such as medical imaging machines, the vibrations from heavy machinery will need to be carefully coordinated within the construction schedule.

When designing a medical center, some challenges with building layout may include such things like creating clear patient pathways to avoid congestion while ensuring privacy in waiting areas, exam rooms, and sensitive procedure areas while optimizing workflow for staff efficiency by arranging work stations and equipment to minimize unnecessary movement. Managing complex equipment placement such as MRI machines and CT scanners into the building design and infrastructure can be challenging. Integrating specialized spaces such as surgery suites, intensive care units and imaging rooms with specialized needs will also be a design need.

We are dedicated to building innovative medical centers that are focused on enhancing patient care through modern design. Our efficient construction practices are tailored to your healthcare needs.
By carefully considering these challenges and collaborating closely with us and our architects and engineers, we can successfully deliver a high-quality, functional, and safe medical facility.
